Outreach

Focused on Community

Central Christian Church believes that an essential part of living out our faith involves being focused on our community. One of the ways we do this is by partnering with helping organizations around Danville, IL. We also provide a few organizations with space within our facility to hold their meetings. The organizations and community focus ministries Central is currently involved in include the following.

Blessing Box

For those with an emergency need for food, Central offers a Blessing Box located between our parking lot and the YMCA’s parking lot.  The Blessing Box is stocked by members of the church and those in the neighborhood.  As the sign says, “Give what you can, Take what you need”. The Blessing Box is checked and filled daily by volunteers for anyone in the community to use.

Turquoise Tables

Turquoise Tables

At Central we have four Turquoise Picnic Tables, two on the front lawn and two by the parking lot.  Turquoise Tables are a place for people to gather and get to know one another.  There will be members at the two tables by the parking lot each week on Friday’s 9 am-12 pm.  They will be there to provide conversation or to pray to anyone who is in need.

Neighborhood Association

We currently partner with our local Neighborhood Associate to coordinate with them to use our church as a place to conduct their meetings.

Linen Ministry

Central is also the location for Love (In The Name of Christ) Linen Ministry.  By partnering with Love INC, volunteers from our church receive referrals and provide bed sheets, pillows, towels, and blankets to community members that are in need.

The Dwelling Place

The Dwelling Place

The Dwelling Place is a day center shelter for community members to get warm, do laundry, shower, use internet, put in applications for jobs, and get a meal.  We at Central Christian have members that serve on the board for The Dwelling Place.  As a church we partnered with this organization by volunteering our time, funds, and collect needed items.

District 118

In the fall of 2020 District 118 reached out to us needing to add another location to hold their preschool screenings. District has held several screenings so far and now have screenings scheduled with us for the rest of this 2021-2022 school year. As a church we also continue to provide emergency food bags for all the schools in our district. These bags are handed out but social workers in the district providing emergency food supplies and hygiene products for several days to families in emergency need. This ministry also involves the support of a local dentist in town Dr. Ashton.
