What to expect when you visit us at Central Christian Church

You might be wondering, what's it really like at Central Christian Church? Simply stated, at Central, we're all about Jesus. You won't be met with shame, guilt, or condemnation. And we don't care how you're dressed or what candidate you voted for. Our church is made up of imperfect people with every kind of story imaginable.

Want to know the best part? No matter what you've been through or what questions you might have about God and faith, our church is a place where you'll find the love, grace, and forgiveness Jesus gives to everyone.

Here are some questions you may have about us.

At Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) we gather every Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. to grow our faith through education and 10:00 a.m. to worship together. We learn from each other as we praise God and live in a way the shows the world around what God has called us to be as the church. All are welcome!

Our services run from one hour to an hour and fifteen minutes.

Our church is a relaxed place for spiritual renewal and worship, we encourage you to wear whatever makes you comfortable.

We welcome you as you are and will be very happy to have you for worship.

Our parking lot is on the east side, in the back of the building.  You can enter the parking lot from English Street or Jackson Street.

We have Christian Education (Sunday School) for men and women starting at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. We also have a children's church during worship.

Yes, we have a wonderful nursery with loving staff to be with your child. The nursery is open from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings.

Music has always played a key role in the Christian faith. From the very beginning, the church has sung praises to God. This is certainly true at Central Christian Church, which offers a variety of musical styles and groups.

Music in our 10:00 a.m. service includes both traditional hymns and contemporary selections. Worship is led by a praise band accompanied by piano, and on special occasions by organ. Our church choir also sings during our weekly service, with special selections performed throughout the fall, winter, and spring. Throughout the year members of our congregation will sing solos, perform in ensembles, and also play different musical instruments. We also have a Bell Choir that plays several times each year.

In addition, special worship services are held during the course of the year that draws upon the musical gifts of many within the congregation.

We have an open table, which means that everyone can participate, whether you are a member of the church or not.

What is the Purpose of Communion?

  • To commemorate the death of Christ: "Do this in remembrance of me."

  • To signify, seal, and apply to believers all the benefits of the new covenant. In this ordinance, Christ ratifies his promises to his people, and they, on their part, solemnly consecrate themselves to him and to his entire service.

  • To indicate and to promote the communion of believers with Christ.

The elements used to represent Christ's body and blood are bread and wine.

We would love to connect with you!
